ITC Study: Possible Modifications to US GSP

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) is seeking input for a newly initiated investigation concerning possible modifications to the Generalized System of Preferences.

The investigation, Advice Concerning Possible Modifications to the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences, 2008 Review of Competitive Need Limit Waivers (Investigation No. 332-506), was requested by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR).

Japan to Launch Port Security Program

TOKYO — The Japanese government announced that a pilot project of the United States-led Megaports Initiative will be launched at the Port of Yokohama, near Tokyo, on March 2.
The announcement was made in a joint statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Finance Ministry and the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry.

OHL Increases New and Existing Customer Base, Expands Facilities and Staff

OHL continues growth by securing additional distribution space in southern California.

The region’s employee base has also continued to grow steadily. OHL has added 66 employees in the past six months and shares labor within the region. OHL operates multi-customer campus distribution centers in the Riverside, Ontario and Fontana areas serving more than 60 customers in the food and beverage, electronics, consumer packaged goods and restaurant supply industries.

CBP ISF/”10+2″ 2009 Outreach Schedule

ITC Report: Shifts in U.S. Merchandise Trade

Shifts in U.S. Merchandise Trade 2007, an annual compendium of data and analysis examining changes in trade with key U.S. partners and in crucial U.S. industries, was released today by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

The ITC, an independent, nonpartisan, factfinding federal agency, releases the information in a web-based format that focuses on reasons for key shifts in trade, provides more detail, and can be searched by country or commodity sector.

Users will find a comprehensive review of U.S. trade performance in 2007, focusing on changes in U.S. exports, imports, and trade balances of key natural resource, agricultural, and manufacturing industries, as well as changes in U.S. trade with major partners and groups. Also included are trade data for 2003-2007 for over 250 industry/commodity groups.
